3 Easy Prebiotic Breakfast Recipes

We’ve all heard the adage that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But with all the hustle and bustle that mornings bring, finding the motivation to kick off your day with a healthy breakfast can seem impossible. But a few simple recipes can help. And as an added bonus, these recipes are packed with a powerful prebiotic punch that help support your digestive system and promote gut health.

Banana Oatmeal Muffins

2 cups oats (quick cooking or old fashioned)

2 large, ripe bananas

1 cup plain Greek yogurt

2 large eggs

2 to 3 tablespoons honey of organic, local honey

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 scoop of Great Gut Prebiotic Fiber®

1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1/8 teaspoon kosher salt

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees, and grease a 12-cup standard muffin tin or line with cupcake paper liners.
  2. Combine all ingredients in a blender, and blend high until batter is smooth and oats are completely broken down. Stop to scrape sides of blender as needed and stir ingredients. This should take about 3-4 minutes. By hand, stir in the mix-ins.
  3. Divide batter into muffin cups, filling three-quarters of the way to the top.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  5. Let cool for 10 minutes, remove from the pan and enjoy!

 

Easy Overnight Oats

½ cup old-fashioned oats

½ cup milk

1 scoop Great Gut Prebiotic Fiber®

Organic, local honey to taste

Your favorite fruit (we’re partial to bananas or kiwis for an added prebiotic kick!)

  1. Combine first two ingredients in container and place in fridge overnight.
  2. In the morning, stir in one scoop of Great Gut Prebiotic Fiber®, add honey to taste and top with your favorite fruit. Serve with a side of almonds and enjoy!

 

Super Simple Smoothie

 

½ banana

1 cup frozen berries

1 scoop Great Gut Prebiotic Fiber®

½ cup of plain yogurt

8 oz. of coconut water

Combine all ingredients in blender, and blend until smooth. Add ice and extra coconut water to create preferred consistency. Sprinkle with flaxseeds.
